Should You Carry Stun Guns and Pepper Spray?
Many people erroneously believe that stun guns are dangerous. However if you should find yourself in a situation that calls for self-defense they are nice to have around. Stun guns work by passing a high voltage pulse through a person's nervous system and muscles. The voltage is high enough to pass through clothing and skin and disrupt the normal nervous system functions but not intense enough to do serious damage.
This results in either the muscles not responding to the brains instructions at all or instructs the muscles to work furiously but not toward any specific goal. Your attacker will be unable to move or twitching furiously but either way they will be unable to harm you and you can get away.
On the other hand, pepper spray can also be very effective. If you are in a situation that requires quick movement it can be a little more difficult to use. To be effective you need to be able to aim the spray for the attackers face and get at least close to the eyes.
Properly aimed and executed pepper spray in the face will stop most attackers in their tracks; they may even fall to the ground. The pepper extract causes severe burning of the eyes and if any amount of the spray is breathed in, the lungs will be on fire as well. Inability to see clearly and difficulty breathing should buy you enough time to escape and find help.
If you decide to go with stun guns, you should know there are several to choose from. Each one has different applications and voltage, for example the Muscle Man Stun gun carries 100,000 - 600,000 volts, the Panther Stun Gun carries 100,000- 500,000 volts and the perfect purse or pocket size gun is the Streetwise Small Fry that packs a walloping 400,000- 1,000,000 volts!

If you want to really give someone a kick in the pants opt for the Double Trouble Stun Gun that has a massive 1.2 million volts.
Pepper spray also offers consumers many options; you can find a pepper spray dispenser for almost any occasion. There are Pocket Pepper Spray devices, Pen Pepper spray, jogger model Pepper spray, 2.5 oz home unit pepper spray, 4.4 oz police magnum pepper spray and many, many more. Be sure to check with local authorities on which are legal in your particular area.
Carrying some form of protection wherever you go is important, you should strive to have a self-defense device with you always. Stun guns or pepper spray, it really does not matter which you prefer in fact you can carry both if you like. Just do not be caught off guard, let bad people know quickly that they messed with the wrong person! Self-protection is a right not an option so make sure you are always safe whether you are at work, in public or even at home, you can never be too careful.
