Put The Romance Back In Your Bedroom

If you are looking for a change in your bedroom since its dull and boring why not try to make it the romantic spot for your and your special one? By designing a room around romance you'll be put in the mood as you enter with its elegance and the textures which are used. Most of the times you'll use cool colors when designing around the rest of the room where others spend time but the bedroom is the one place in the house you can be bold and try to make it more dark and passionate. Don't be scared to take risks.

Start by choosing the color scheme which you want to place in your bedrooms design. You either can choose red which is the most romantic color out there or a neutral color. If you choose neutral then try accenting with the red tones to give it that romantic feel as well as warmth. Just make sure you are aware of the red before you place it on the walls. You also can just go for painting one wall where the headboard will be red so it is more like an accent into the room's decor.

Don't start redecorating until you're sure of what you want the final outcome to be. Go around first and look for a theme or central piece that will pull the room together. Look for accessories and little trinkets that you can put into the room to give it more character and depth.

After you've settled on the final theme, it's time pick out your beddings. Here's one area where you should feel free to splurge because you get to feel every inch of your investment once bedtime rolls around. Romance and sex are closely linked to the senses, and beddings give you the chance to work with the sense of touch. Go over the top with silk beddings or just about anything else that turns on your sensual side.

Get a painting or two to make your walls more interesting. As the bed will most probably be the central piece in the room, it's a good idea to hang the artworks above the headboard where they can be easily seen. Abstracts and florals are a good idea because they'll work with almost any theme or concept.

You want to make sure the textures which you have in your design are soft, romantic, and cozy. You don't want anything which is rough to the touch. This applies to the floor as well. Try choosing a great area rug which is shaggy. If it is large enough try placing it underneath the bed or if you aren't able to find anything large enough, purchase smaller ones and place one on each side of the bed and one at the foot of the bed. It will just complement the art which is already placed in the room.

Lighting is the last (but not the least) component that you should handle. For a romantic room, make the visuals as 'soft' as possible. That is, avoid direct lighting like with overhead bulbs and ceiling lights. Make liberal use of lampshades and recessed lighting so as to make the space feel as intimate and gentle as possible. Dimmers are another great way to turn a regular bedroom into your romantic little space when the day is done.
