Decorating A Boys’ Room
When you need to redecorate your little boys' room you want to be inspired by something he likes; a sports hero, an artist, or maybe a fantasy that he reacts over and over. He spends hours playing so why not make his room decor fit in with his imagination.
Eye on the Ball: You really can't go wrong when you choose a sports theme. Boys like that. Balls are easy to decorate with. They look great in a room with a colorful rug. If your child has a favorite team then this will make it even easier to get the decor right.
Rainbow Bright: Perhaps your son shows artistic tendencies, or maybe he just likes bright colors. Go for the gold (and blue and green and ...) by using bright colors everywhere. If the room has wall-to-wall carpeting, start by choosing a wildly colorful area rug, and take your color cues from that. Paint each shelf of a bookcase a different color corresponding to the color theme. Color up the bedroom furniture in the same way. Remember, paint is the most inexpensive way to design a room, so don't be shy about using it lavishly.
Yo-Ho, Yo-Ho - That's right, your little boy may love to be a pirate. Decorate with a scene from "Treasure Island" or "Peter Pan" or even "Pirates of the Caribbean". When decorating with this theme you need to start with an ocean blue. Then add your sailing shops and netting. Don't forget to paint a porthole on the wall. Decorate around the room with treasure boxes so he can store little treasures away.
A Knight's tale: If you are gifted with a talent for art then you will love decorating with A Knight's Tale. You can paint the castle walls and add flying pennants on the walls. Add a blue sky on the ceiling. Read The Tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Roundtable to get your inspiration. Place curtains around his bed to enhance the look.
Do the Locomotion: Ask any child what transportation means and you will hear trains, planes, any type of automobile and more. You can choose one of these to make a theme for your child's room. Use bright primary colors to paint railroad signs or traffic signals. Use transportation borders around the walls. Purchase a bed that is shaped like a car, plane, or even a train.
Ride 'em, Cowboy: The Wild West is a never-fail theme for a little boy's room, but do try to leave out the six-guns. Instead make his curtains or valances from red and blue bandanas. Look for Western-themed wallpaper or borders with cowboy hats, horses and ropes. A bedside lamp in a boot base is a wonderful touch, and he'll be snug as a ranch hand in his bunk if his very own broomstick horse peeks over the footboard at bedtime.
